A little bit about us
Whitney's House is a Montessori-inspired family childcare in Commerce City, CO. It's also, quite literally, my home — a place where children are treated as capable, curious people from the moment they walk in the door.

Hi, I'm Whitney
I'm a Montessori-trained early childhood educator with 20 years of experience working with children from infancy through elementary age. My journey began as a lead guide at Monarch Montessori while I earned my Montessori infant/toddler certification through the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies (MECR). My son Jacob started at Monarch with me at 2 years old and stayed through fifth grade, so this philosophy has shaped our family from the very beginning.
After a few years working across different age groups at Monarch, I moved into a nanny-share with three families in the Central Park neighborhood. When the world shifted during COVID-19, I brought that same Montessori philosophy home — and this program has been right here ever since.
Jacob just graduated high school this year, and he's still very much a part of life here. He's always had a natural gift with little ones — a true gentle giant — and the kids treat him like a local celebrity whenever he's around. Between driving through Rocky Mountain Arsenal, walking the trails, swimming at the rec center, and playing video games together, he keeps our home lively, and I love that the children in my care get to grow up around that same warmth.
Outside of the program, you'll often find me in a swing reading or listening to an audiobook for hours at a time, or hosting friends on Saturday nights for board games or a great film. My home has always had an open-door energy — Jacob's friends are here most weekends, neighborhood kids filter in and out, and I genuinely love having young people around. It keeps me connected to the next generation in a way that makes me a better educator.
I'm so glad you've found your way here. Together, we can help your child grow, reach important developmental milestones, and feel truly at home while they do it.
Small principles, big impact
Home as Environment
Every space is set up with intention for how children actually move, rest, and learn — and I shift it as their needs change.
Mixed Ages
Infants through kindergarten-ready share one space. Older children lead; younger ones learn from watching, just a step ahead of themselves.
Real Responsibility
Kids pour drinks, set the table, rinse produce, gear up, and clean up. When they show interest, we hand them ownership.
Learning by Doing
Libraries, museums, parks, gardening, and structured pre-K work — children learn by living, not just by sitting.
We stay connected
Enrolled families are added to a private WhatsApp group for photos, updates, and a heads-up on where we're headed for the day. You can opt into following our location via Find My or Google Maps while we're out on outings. And I meet with each family roughly every three months — over coffee, a meal, or somewhere in between — to talk through your child's development and hear your feedback.
Over the years we've attended events together, met up at the park, held holiday cookouts, and watched friendships form that carry on well beyond the program. This is a community.
"Choosing who will care for your child during these early years is one of the most meaningful decisions you'll make. Thank you for even considering this program — I'd love the chance to partner with your family."
